Stone Veneer Installation Capilano
In Capilano, where rain is common, stone veneer installation begins with a drainage plane. We put a weather-resistant barrier over the wall sheathing and attach a strong lath for natural stone or a dimpled rain-screen mat for manufactured stone.
For manufactured stone, we use a polymer-modified mortar that bonds to the drainage mat. Each piece is set with a little back-butter to ensure full contact. For natural stone, we apply a full mortar scratch coat over the lath, which cures before we place and tap each stone level. This uses a mixture that resists moisture well.
