Paragon
What starts as a faint sound against concrete can erode soil, stain siding, and invite cracks in your foundation over a wet Vancouver season. Even a small misdirected stream will saturate the ground beside your home until the structure shifts.
A well-fitted system preserves entryways by directing rain away from doors and keeping walkways free of splash-back during heavy downpours. In a region with relentless autumn rains, properly sloped troughs protect fascia boards from rot and help exterior paint last longer.

Protect Your Home from Water Damage
When rainwater pools near your foundation, cracks and leaks will follow. Paragon Exteriors installs Gutters and Eavestrough systems that move every drop away from your home.
Keeping water moving protects your siding, window frames, and landscaping from damage and rot. Our team fits seamless systems to your needs for a clean look and long-lasting performance.
Homeowners in Fleetwood can count on our gutter and eavestrough work throughout Metro Vancouver. Properly installed systems protect foundations from heavy coastal rainfall.
When rain season arrives, faded siding or peeling paint often means moisture problems. Our team can check your exterior and suggest solutions to keep your home looking good.
Gutter Material and Installation
Most homes in the Vancouver area use roll-formed aluminum for gutters. This material can handle coastal rain and is light on the fascia. K-style troughs carry more water than half-round ones of the same height. A continuous coil reduces mid-run seams where leaks can happen.
Installers angle each run toward the downspout outlet. They cut the drop opening after hanging the gutter to ensure it aligns with the water flow. Hidden hangers clip inside the trough and screw into the back wall of the fascia. This keeps fasteners out of the water channel. The downspout diameter matches the area it drains, and all elbows are sealed.
Gutters are part of a water management system. The eave drip edge must direct water into the trough, not behind it. This prevents moisture from seeping into the fascia or soffit. The back of the gutter is placed behind the metal edge and below any weather barrier on the wall to keep the drainage plane intact.
Hidden hangers support the weight of water, wet debris, and snow through the fascia into the rafter tail or structural framing. If they are spaced too far apart, the front lip can sag and pull away. This can flatten the fall and cause standing water.
Long metal runs expand and contract with temperature changes. Installers leave space at end caps or use expansion relief to prevent buckling. Downspout discharge should be directed well past the foundation wall using extensions or splash blocks. Concentrated water near the footing can saturate the perimeter.
Bylaw Compliance for Exteriors
In the City of Vancouver, the Noise Control By-law sets hours for construction noise. Gutter and eavestrough work can happen Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 8:00pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 8:00pm. No noise from this work is allowed on Sundays or holidays unless a noise bylaw exception permit is obtained.
Surrey’s Stormwater Drainage Regulation and Charges By-law does not allow connecting gutter downspouts to the sanitary sewer. Any connection to the city’s stormwater drainage system must follow the bylaw and get proper approval.
For single-family homes in Surrey, the Building Bylaw says that gutter rainwater leaders must discharge onto an approved splash pad at ground level. They cannot discharge directly into a foundation drain or main storm system without specific approval from the Building Official.
