Enjoy Your Patio Comfortably
When the sun turns your deck into a heat trap, a patio cover makes a real difference. It blocks harsh rays and keeps the surface cooler, so you can use your outdoor space longer. No more heading inside when it gets too hot.
Our Patio Covers are built for Metro Vancouver’s wet climate and keep you cool in summer. They add living space to your home’s exterior without creating glare.
If you’re in Thornhill, we offer the same shade solutions for your deck. Our team knows the local weather and builds patio covers that handle the area’s damp, wooded conditions.
We often see homes where a quick fix left the exterior looking uneven—faded siding, a deck stain that doesn’t match, or trim that looks worn. A patio cover that matches your home’s style improves curb appeal and shows the home is well maintained.
Permit Requirements
In the City of Surrey, adding a roofed patio cover to a deck needs a residential building permit. The project must follow the City of Surrey Zoning Bylaw and the BC Building Code. The contractor must submit a complete building permit application. This includes a site plan, foundation plan, floor plan, cross section, elevations, fees, and any required damage deposit before starting construction.
In Burnaby, putting in an aluminum patio cover also requires a building permit. The city allows covered deck area to be up to 8% of the total permitted gross floor area. If your existing deck is larger than that, you can only cover part of it. Your application must have engineered drawings and meet the Burnaby Building Bylaw, Zoning Bylaw, Tree Bylaw, and BC Building Code.
A local school had several outdoor entrances and a lunch area that were open to rain and heat. This caused water to pool near the doorways on wet days, making the area unusable for much of the year. Our team built custom patio covers for each entrance, working around the school’s schedule and keeping the site safe during classes. Now, the covered entrances and lunch area give students and staff dry, shaded paths, and the school no longer worries about weather damaging the doors.
