Uncovered decks or patios do not count toward site coverage if they are no more than 0.6 m above grade. However, once a patio is roofed or covered, the area counts toward site coverage and must meet setbacks and other zoning limits. For Paragon Exteriors, the size, height above grade, and roofed nature of a patio cover must be checked against zoning limits on each lot before design and permitting. The Noise Control Bylaw No. 4404, 2005 limits construction noise to specific hours: Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and it prohibits construction noise on Sundays and holidays. Patio cover installation, framing, and other exterior work must be done within these hours unless a specific exemption is granted by the District.
