The solution involves engineered canopies that shed water and open-beam pergolas built for our wet climate. We design overhangs and sloped roofs so rain drains away from your door, not toward it. Framing and materials

We use through-bolts for beam-to-post connections instead of lag screws. This provides stiffness against lateral gusts while resisting corrosion.
Open-backed pergolas allow airflow beneath the rafters. This reduces condensation on cooler surfaces and helps the wood dry quickly after rain. Good ventilation is important in a neighborhood where high humidity from the Strait of Georgia can linger.
