That lingering mossy smell shows moisture trapped behind old shakes. Replacing them with fresh cedar siding stops water from getting in and rotting the wood underneath. Our crews remove the old layer, check what’s behind it, and prepare the surface so the new cedar keeps out rain for decades.
The real fix happens at the substrate. We put on a breathable weather barrier and treat the back of every new shake to stop cupping and splitting.
