Paragon
Even with a cover overhead, poor design choices leave gaps that let rain blow onto your seating area. A structure built for local weather patterns keeps you genuinely dry, not just sheltered.
Patio covers add valuable living space to your home’s exterior. Whether you want a spot for a hot tub, an outdoor dining setup, or a place to store bikes, the right structure makes that possible year-round.

Enjoy Your Deck Year-Round
Rainy winters don’t mean you can’t use your deck. A good patio cover lets you enjoy your outdoor space for relaxing, dining, and entertaining no matter the weather. It’s the easiest way to make your backyard feel like a true part of your home.
Our custom covers are made from strong, weather-resistant materials and are securely attached to your existing structure. Whether you want a clear polycarbonate roof for natural light or a solid surface that matches your siding, we will design it to fit your home’s style. Check out patio covers in Vancouver.
Vancouver gets over 160 days of rain each year, and that moisture can quickly harm exposed decks and siding. A patio cover built for local weather stops water pooling, rot, and mold, keeping your outdoor space safe and usable.
Homes in areas like Kitsilano and Mount Pleasant often have older wood that needs extra protection. Our team understands the city’s architectural styles and building codes, so every cover we install on Vancouver homes is made to last.
Patio Cover Materials
Our patio covers in Vancouver are built to handle the area’s heavy rain and coastal winds. We use strong aluminum and reinforced polycarbonate panels that resist moisture and will not rot or rust. The frames are attached to your home’s exterior with hardware that resists corrosion, suitable for the local climate.
Installation follows a careful process to ensure proper water drainage and stability. First, we dig and pour footings to create a solid base. Then, we assemble the aluminum frame on-site and make sure it is level before attaching it to your home. Finally, we install the polycarbonate roof panels with overlapping seals to keep out the weather.
Our patio cover designs meet the needs of the Metro Vancouver area. The aluminum frames are sized to handle local snow and wind loads, with strong connections that can withstand heavy storms. We add flashing and moisture barriers to control water and protect your home’s exterior.
The polycarbonate roof panels also provide insulation, helping to keep your covered patio comfortable all year. This helps save energy by lowering heating and cooling needs for your home. Our team assesses each project site to ensure the patio cover fits well with your home’s structure for the best performance.
Patio Cover Permit Regulations
Construction work for residential patio covers in the City of Vancouver is subject to the Noise Control By-law No. 6555. This by-law limits construction-related noise on private property to 7:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Saturdays. No construction-related noise is allowed on Sundays or holidays unless a noise by-law exception permit is obtained. This affects when Paragon Exteriors can perform patio cover installation or related exterior construction at Vancouver homes.
Under the City of Vancouver Zoning and Development By-law, patios and roof decks are regulated as part of residential site planning and floor area calculations. Covered patios may be treated differently from uncovered patios for floor area exclusions, privacy considerations, and general zoning compliance. Therefore, patio cover projects must be reviewed against the applicable district schedule and any limits or conditions the Director of Planning applies to patios and roof decks on the lot.
A City of Vancouver planning bulletin states that patios are not limited in size or counted in floor area calculations if they are not covered or enclosed. Once a patio is covered, like adding a fixed patio cover roof, the space may lose this exemption. It may then be treated as part of the building for area and zoning purposes. This means patio cover projects may trigger zoning constraints, potential permit review, and stricter compliance with setbacks and floor area limits compared to an uncovered patio.
In Vancouver, we worked on a project at a local school where we installed custom patio covers on several buildings. The old covers had failed, which let rain pour into outdoor areas. This made those spaces unusable during Vancouver’s rainy months and led to canceled activities. We planned the work around their academic schedule and collaborated with their facility team to keep the campus safe while occupied. Now, the covered areas are useful for students and staff all year, and they no longer face the problem of unusable outdoor spaces.
Local Patio Cover Installation
We regularly install patio covers in Vancouver. We travel easily via the Lions Gate Bridge. With waypoints like Stanley Park, the drive usually takes about 15 to 25 minutes. When we arrive, we often get supplies from local hardware stores like Dunbar Lumber and Northern Building Supply Ltd. This way, we support Vancouver businesses while we work.
Vancouver’s rainy weather can make decks hard to use, but our custom patio covers let you enjoy your outdoor space all year. We use strong aluminum frames and reinforced polycarbonate panels that resist moisture and won’t rot. Our installation includes proper footings, drainage, and hardware that resists corrosion to handle local weather. Since Vancouver has over 160 days of rain, we design each cover to meet city building codes and zoning rules. Covered patios may need permits and must follow noise bylaw hours. Costs range from about CAD 4,000 to CAD 9,000 for a small cover and CAD 30,000 to CAD 65,000 for a large one. We can easily reach your Vancouver home via the Lions Gate Bridge.
