Permit Requirements for West End
For residential buildings under seven storeys in the City of Vancouver, if most of the exterior wall space has at least 100–175 mm of thermal insulation, a small part of the floor area (1–2%) can be excluded from the floor area calculations. Also, extra thickness of exterior insulation beyond the Building By-law thermal performance values can be excluded up to certain limits (e.g., 330 mm for buildings six storeys or less).
